747410 2009-02-12 23:05:00 Hi

Is it possiable to run a formula to colour in certain cells if a certain item is selected in another cell, or can it be done by running a Macro inside a IF Formula or something like that.

That may help?

Conditional Formatting only works on the basis of values, not if any other cells are selected or not.

747414 2009-02-13 21:40:00 Hi and welcome to PressF1!

If I am understanding this correctly, you have a value in one cell (this is when you say 'selected') and depending on the value in this cell you want to set the colour of another cell. Yes you can do that with conditional formatting. Select the cell that you want to colour, select menu option Format > Conditional Formatting > change 'Cell Value Is' to 'Formula Is' > in the blank box to the right enter the condition you want to test for. For example, if you want to colour the cell green if cell A3 contains a value greater than 0, then enter the formula =A3>0 and select the green format etc. Of if you are using text values, then something like =A3="Fred". Then pick the format you want to show etc.

747415 2009-02-14 02:05:00 Well, lurking in this forum really pays off! I have been trying to do the same thing as Lachieb but couldn't figure out how.

Thanks, Andrew 93
