747237 2009-02-12 19:16:00 I have had my lappy for about 2 years now and it has a 15.4" screen, I feel that it is about time to get a external monitor.

I have a $400 budget and I don't want to blow it. I wanted a monitor that does full HD (1920x1080 ) and preferably have HDMI input (not that I need it now but for futureproof).

I was looking at monitors on Trademe and Dell website, and I zoom it down to the final 2 options :

1. www1.ap.dell.com

2. www.trademe.co.nz

none of the above have HDMI.

so, which one I should get? or do you have any other recommendations? I am open to suggestions.

thanks heaps in advance.

747239 2009-02-12 20:10:00 thnks for the suggestion Trev.

the monitor you suggested doesn't do full HD so it is out of the window :P

But anyway why should I go for a Viewsonic? I'm not against it, but I want to know are there any particular reasons? Dell has the best customer support and that is a big factor for me too.

cheers

747241 2009-02-12 20:14:00 Ge the VM version then.

www.ascent.co.nz

Its HD version of VX2233. Or if you want HDMI, get the VX2260VM

Viewsonic has a nice price/quality ratio.

You won't get a dell full HD monitor under 400....

If anything doesn't work, just refund it

Ummm on the front of my monitor it says 1080p Full HD. Want to get your facts right. Don't buy Dell there after sales support is rubbish.

thanks blam6 . the one you suggested is the same as the one on trademe i listed above, i think .

nice price/quality ratio is what I wanted :D

and Dell does do full HD under 400, which is the one I listed above .

one more questions tho, what is this "Dead Pixel Policy May have some pixel defects" bussiness?? does it mean that it will or might come with some dead pixels or something?

cheers

I think you put up the wrong link, the link you put up is for a 19" monitor: ViewSonic VG1930wm 19" LCD Monitor which only do 1440x900. :D

I own a dell lappy and I know a lot of friends, mostly students who has dell products, from my past experience and what i heard from my friends dell has the best after sale support......so I don't know why you guys are saying that..

I don't want to divert the thread however I bought a Dell box only last year for economical reasons (don't start!) and had a graphics card issue. I had excellent email support and then a techy came to MY place to replace the card, I couldn't have asked for more and I doubt there would be a better balance of price and service.
Unfortunately a subsequent information request regarding caller ID for the modem was disastrous, so there you go for Dells

747246 2009-02-12 21:10:00 The VX2233WM is magnificent. The VX2260WM is the same thing with HDMI, about $65 dearer.

Looks like Trev just posted the wrong link. :)
