747205 2009-02-12 10:29:00 I have been given an oldish 710C printer with two dead cartridges.
I know the printer should probably be dumped but if I can get it to work I will use it for a while.
My first question is this: Can this printer take a large black only cartridge or does it need to have a colour cartridge in it even if I do not want to print in colour for the most part?
My second question is this:What is the opinion of the forum regarding ink cartridges ----- Remanufactured or original new ---- !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope to hear from you soonish.

747206 2009-02-12 17:20:00 I tried this ages ago, but can't remember whether it needed the colour cartridge or not. I suggest to just try it with a black cartridge and see if it works.
I always use original. Have heard some people have issues with remanufactured cartridges, while others swear that they are great.

My mother-in-law bought a reman cartridge for her old Epson, printer didn't like it and I ended up helping her get a refund (brownie points for me :D)

747207 2009-02-12 17:42:00 I only use genuine in my Canon Pixma while step son refills his Epson ones with no problems gary67 (56)
747208 2009-02-12 18:37:00 The 710 and 810 are great little printers, especially for the ease of double sided printing and I still use mine and have used both sorts of cartridges in them with equal success.

I haven't tried with only the black though so can't answer that one.

Yes, you can go into its settings and change it to Black only and it happily prints. Unlike most modern ones.

I even have a spare (full) black lying about here for one.
And yes remanufactured is fine.
