746585 2009-02-11 02:01:00 I am trying to create a program that resets a user's password in Active Directory.

How might I do this?? The user that will be running the program has rights to reset passwords, we just want to keep them out of AD is possible.

746586 2009-02-11 03:36:00 Sorry if this is a silly question, but so long as you haven't disabled the users' ability in AD/<user profile>/properties/profile tab to change their password, why can't the users just ctrl+alt+delete from their workstations and change the password that way??

Or are you trying to delegate control to selected users over multiple users accounts?

746587 2009-02-11 04:36:00 Problem is - I work at a school and lots of stuidents often forget their passwords. I want to delegate control of password resetting to someone else. jwil1 (65)
746588 2009-02-11 05:11:00 Basically new up a System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryEntry (msdn.microsoft.com) object, set some properties and call CommitChanges().

Have a look here (examples are in C#, but show which classes to use, just translate to VB.NET):

In particular here:

Set yourself up a sandbox/dev environment using ADAM so you can experiment without screwing with your school's AD setup:
