2007-06-05 00:57:00 Can anyone please tell me why a lot of European cars don't have rear windscreen wipers ? Overdrive_5000 (4950)
2007-06-05 01:12:00 They drive looking forwards. pctek (84)
2007-06-05 01:13:00 That's to keep the driver from being scared by the hand gestures of the faster cars they have stuck behind them. SurferJoe46 (51)
2007-06-05 01:43:00 Aerodynamics. Generally a rear windscreen wiper is only necessary when the back of the vehicle is built like a brick sh ithouse - like my old Nissan 4 wheel. Scouse (83)
2007-06-05 03:45:00 ok thanks Overdrive_5000 (4950)
2007-06-05 05:36:00 Mercedes don't because (IIRC) they believe it's unnecessary if the rear window is angled correctly....

It's likely that school of thought may apply to other European manufacturers too.

Guess it's an aesthetics thing...

2007-06-05 06:26:00 They forget morning frost or dew though - that's where it comes in handy, especially when the first thing you do is reverse out of your parking spot. Erayd (23)
2007-06-05 06:27:00 That's what chauffeurs were invented for. (And heated windows). Graham L (2)
