2007-06-03 22:40:00 | Why not make thermite? 2 parts iron oxide to one part fine aluminium powder. mix really well and carefully. Insert a long magnesium at the top as the wick. Light and GET THE HELL away. Watch as it burns through a cars engine block. Well Ok. So if I throw the thermite I will have barbecued pork?

2007-06-03 22:53:00 | LOL @ SJ :D Looks like the Hunter HD doen't have a laser anymore... has a scope and is $1495  Ooo 175lb :D just looking at it, the Steelforce 150lb red dot, $395 would suit me to start with... What is the recoil like on them? The M1 will be useless going into water, I saw an episode of Mythbusters where they fired multiple guns into water to see if they would be lethal.... the M1s bullet shattered on impact with the water and didn't even go 2 feet in IIRC There is no recoil. Not like a .303 or .308 and I never used .577 for elephants either. Note the Hunter can be fitted with the red dot and will cost you less.

2007-06-03 22:56:00 | Let me get this straight...You CAN have a crossbow and not a pistol? I'd rather be shot by a .32 ACP or a .38 cal. than a crossbow any day!Yeah - pretty dumb gun/weapon laws here in NZ. Plus an air-rifle seems to fall under the category of 'firearm' these days, at least in the media - not sure about how the law sees them. :illogical I always thought that a sensible definition of firearm would involve fire (explosion)...

2007-06-03 22:57:00 | I thought there would be recoil... I was taught in physics that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction... so the release of the bolt would be the action and the recoil is the reaction which would be equal to the power of the crossbow :nerd:... or is there recoil but it is not very strong? EDIT: johcar, yes, an air rifle/BB gun are classed as guns which you need a licence... I was in the hunting and fishing shop getting the new slingshot above and the guy was saying that BB guns need a firearms licence to buy...

2007-06-03 22:59:00 | Well Ok . So if I throw the thermite I will have barbecued pork? Only if it hits a pig . And even then, you'll be lucky to end up with crackling, let alone edible meat!! . . . ;)

2007-06-03 23:20:00 | Hmm, you are right... There is none on the slingshot and the crossbow is the same priciple (stored energey) All the energey is kept in the slingshot and crossbow, when fired the sling take all the recoil... | The_End_Of_Reality (334) | |
