555644 2007-06-03 13:12:00 I never thought of them... but are they cheap for 1000+ of them? ;)

Other thought. Use lead sinkers. Or other thought. Go to Red rocks or the Ongrorongo Valley. Pick up rocks for free.

I was looking at lead sinkers as well and they are not cheap... 5 for $6 at The Warehouse (probably not the best place though...) There is pleanty of rocks around here... just need to be round... else they go everywhere and anywhere :xmouth: The_End_Of_Reality (334)

555647 2007-06-03 19:34:00 Well, an air rifle charged with "Deep Heat" seemed to leave a vicious cat knowing which end was on fire. It did not return to our neck of the woods, in fact it may be still running around the Rotorua hills. R2x1 (4628)
555648 2007-06-03 19:55:00 A long time ago I dated a woman who liked guns . . so much that she had over 50 or so in her collection . She was also a ballerina and danced many classical programs like Swan Lake etc . . . . . whattya thunk . . huh?

I had an M1 Garand, 7 . 62/NATO with A-P cordite surplus Czech ammo, a few handguns and a shotgun and a few rifles or so . She had a Mossberg 12g . over-and-under and a black powder collector's weapon or two for herself .

We carried a handful of weapons to a far off place in the county to try for some of the bounty on jackrabbit tails . . they were 50 cents each if you turned them in to the game warden or Animal Control Officers . They had Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever from ticks and the state wanted to get rid of as many as possible .

We arrived very early, and I loaded a . 22 tube-fed long rifle, my . 38 Special S&W revolver, my M1 Garand, her . 44 caliber Navy Colt replica cap and ball powder pistol and an olde 8mm Mauser . . . . . we started to hike .

About 10 steps into the field a jack sprung up, and I grabbed the . 22 rifle and rapid-fired all 19 rounds as I chased him over the hill till he was outta sight .

I handed her the rifle (to reload, of course) and grabbed the M1 . That stupid rabbit was sitting on the next hill, about 100 yards away wiggling his ears and mocking me .

I lowered the M1 and I swear before I even pulled the trigger, the rabbit exploded . That M1 was so powerful that the bullet probably arrived before it left the end of the barrel .

That's what I shot rabbits with for the rest of the day .

I think a slingshot would not have been as much fun .

555649 2007-06-03 21:12:00 Yes, a Crossbow would be great :D but a little costly at this stage :( maybe in 6 months

You may not stop :p , but I will have to when I run out of land here... which means a cannon is out...

EDIT: Hmm, looking on Tradme it seems crossbows are not as dear as I thought... anyway, I will be going up to the Fieldays in Hamilton next week so I will have a look around the places up there :D

I bought a crossbow here:- http://www.nzap.co.nz/

Hunter HD 175 with a red dot sight rather than fitted with a scope. Around $1200. Keeps my freezer full of pork and venison.

Let me get this straight...You CAN have a crossbow and not a pistol?

I'd rather be shot by a .32 ACP or a .38 cal. than a crossbow any day!

If I shoot it I eat it.
Even Oppusums.

Wonders how the M1 would work for trout or salmon.

555652 2007-06-03 21:29:00 Why not make thermite?

2 parts iron oxide to one part fine aluminium powder.

mix really well and carefully.

Insert a long magnesium at the top as the wick. Light and GET THE HELL away.

Watch as it burns through a cars engine block.

555653 2007-06-03 21:31:00 LOL @ SJ :D

You know I am only 18 and don't have a guns licence? :p and I like things like slingshots etc for some reason...

Looks like the Hunter HD doen't have a laser anymore... has a scope and is $1495  Ooo 175lb :D just looking at it, the Steelforce 150lb red dot, $395 would suit me to start with... What is the recoil like on them?

The M1 will be useless going into water, I saw an episode of Mythbusters where they fired multiple guns into water to see if they would be lethal.... the M1s bullet shattered on impact with the water and didn't even go 2 feet in IIRC
