You have been able to get Linux on your iPod for a while, it's just a b***h to run- unlike Apple. ;) Linux runs on a lot of small portable devices usually as embedded code.

What most people don't realise is that it is not the amount of features on a device that makes it great, it is having a couple that do what they are supposed to as opposed to a bunch that don't do squat.

The touch screens you talk about will most likely be arriving sometime next year on laptops. They are already available on cell phones.

My friend put linux on his iPod and it's great. The only stuff that 'doesn't do squat' is the features that are still being designed etc, and that's not the stuff you'd need to use anyway. I would definietely do it if I had money to burn on an iPod (which I don't :().

I was actually referring to the numerous "features" that are on the Zune and other MP3 players that don't always do what they are supposed to. Generally though, as you pointed out, it is best to bring in the features one at a time and make sure they work before introducing the next feature.

556398 2007-06-06 12:48:00 lol pwned. what's the bet macguy has never actually tried linux on an ipod?

oh, and having alot of features, all of which that work, beats a select few any day;) (although i do hear that it's the man with the most gadgets that wins, not the man with the gadget that does the most lol)
