556105 2007-06-04 22:16:00 Where is the best place to look for an old dot matrix printer? Trademe prices are far too high - $200 plus shipping for ancient technology. hcl (10925)
556106 2007-06-04 22:22:00 Here's one: www.trademe.co.nz

Don't know whether its what you're after or not.

556107 2007-06-04 22:27:00 Sounds good, but keep in mind it needs a parallel cable - cheap enough from DSE. Greg (193)
556108 2007-06-04 22:43:00 How about ringing around the computer repair shops? Not Leemings & such. There is an outfit in Mt Wellington, Auckland, that takes in old computers & reconditions them. Cannot think of the name. What about businesses? Maybe something in their junk room. PJ Poppa John (284)
556109 2007-06-04 23:31:00 Where abouts in NZ are you? I have an old Epson LQ-870 dot-matrix in excellent condition, free to a good home. I also have a large number of new ribbons for it. It takes A4 through a single-sheet feeder, or holepunched paper via three other inputs. I think I have half a box of holepunched paper somewhere.

Would be happy to throw in a parallel cable with it too.

556112 2007-06-05 03:20:00 I just off loaded a Epson dot matrix a week ago, was a very good printer in its day. I see someone has offered you a possible dot matrix printer, failing that, try calling some of the computer shops that sell used computer gear. In Chch there is a reconditioning outfit I think in Wordsworth Street that takes in strays and sells/ donates them onwards. ComputerFutures in Gasson Street is another possible store you could call and see if they have something and ship it to you. PinoyKiw (9675)
556113 2007-06-05 04:55:00 Just wondering, but why do you need a dot matrix printer? pcuser42 (130)
556114 2007-06-05 05:00:00 Advantages:

Cheap to run. A (cheap) ribbon lasts for thousands of pages.
With lineflow paper, the pages don't get shuffled. Ideal for programmers.
Can produce a carbon copy.
