Well considering it is in beta at the moment. I would imagine it will be of most use to platform developers for testing in due course.

558306 2007-06-13 06:35:00 I just noticed a bug/something they haven't thought about. If you have text in a text box, it now asks you if you want to close the window or not. Handy, but if the form has been submitted with AJAX like the quick reply on this forum, or if you have deleted what you typed, it still asks you. maccrazy (6741)

Sorry I didn't read the article although I am also wondering what the benefits would be to a Windows user installing Safari when they are not a developer. I can see the obvious benefits of using iTunes for Windows, but unlike Safari your not going to be locked out of certain websites when you want to purchase music with iTunes.
For the record I use FF on 10.4 and have hardly ever used Safari. A lot of people I have worked with actually used IE for Mac instead of Safari which hasn't been properly updated for a while.

I read it. he says no plugins. I run plugins. he says it crashes, mine has crashed probably 3 times.
Different users will have different experiences with any software.

558310 2007-06-13 07:59:00 Ya know I always thought it had a great rep. Seems not. In hindsight, it was all about the rendering engine from Konqueror being better than FF etc.

Also read various articles disputing the speed advantage, which is certainly my own experience with the win beta version. (it's SLOW)

One click private browsing is a good idea, but can be done with a couple of clicks in Opera & ff too at the end of a session. If you needed it. For some reason. :illogical

558312 2007-06-13 08:08:00 Yeah, I wouldn't switch to it on Windows (can't stand it on OS X) but I'll keep it installed, added to my "web developer toolkit" of apps.

Clearing private data is a standard menu item in browsers nowadays, as it is with Opera and Fx currently.
