2007-06-09 03:28:00 | I have broken my nose, toes, shoulder, wrist, both hands and my right foot, ribs, knee and all my right hand fingers. Not all at once but through different things over the last 15 - 16 years. The most annoying one would have to be floating rib....

2007-06-09 05:12:00 | footpath in nz generally means "sidewalk", and yes it is illegal to use powered vehicles on them too. i'm not sure about pedal bikes though, if there isn't anyone else around it's safer and cops aren't going to go ticketing kids now are they? I seem to recall that there's an age cutoff point (I think it's 14??) above which you cannot cycle on the footpath. The intention is that little kids can ride their bikes on the footpath (because its safer), but annoying/dangerous teenagers and adults can't. On the other hand, this: www.landtransport.govt.nz suggests that there is a blanket ban on cycling on the footpath no matter how old you are.

2007-06-09 05:17:00 | Never broken a bone yet, and I have biffed off a road bike or 2 at 120km+, been in a number of car crashes, one with a power pole, had dozens upon dozens of crashes and bashes on dirtbikes, atv's. beach buggies. (one of the worst was launching off an 80 foot cliff, I landed in a bush half way down). Been thrown off the back of a ute, smashed through a window. Even got beaten with a bat. I have rode a couple of collapsing buildings to the ground, fallen off a dozen more, had buildings collapse on me. Was hit by an excavator. Lmao. Never broken a bone, But god damn Im in pain first thing in the morning.

2007-06-09 05:25:00 | Meh, riding on the sidewalk, I'm 32, I cycle for fitness, If I decide the footpath is the safest place to be then thats where I go, I wouldn't rely on the law to keep me safe nor permit it to over-ride my decision on where I should be. having said that, I ride at night, and only hit the footpath when approaching roads to my left, shooting strait across is a recipe for death.

There must be an old satellite or spacecraft about due to come down soon.! |

2007-06-09 13:03:00 | Was hit by an excavator. Jesus I hope you never let the guy operate it again. I've operated an excavator in a fairly busy place, but you'd have to be a complete tool to actually hit someone with one.

2007-06-09 13:11:00 | It was a 20t excavator, I was spotting for him,(standing off to the left, smack bang in his feild of view watching the bank above as he worked) the damn fool swung to the right to look down the road, then continued swinging a full circle clockwise while looking off down the road, The bucket hit me in the back at full steam, threw me into the bank. My entire body went black and purple. The fool was am owner operator, So while he was dismissed from the site that was the end of it.

2007-06-09 13:42:00 | i remember watching a contractor scraping gorse of a neighbours hillside with a fairly large digger (15ton?). he was uphill scraping the gorse up towards him. suffice to say the cab didn't make a very good rollcage now metla, if you've "ridden" a few buildings to the ground, perhaps construction isn't a wise trade to continue :D
