2007-06-10 02:03:00 | I'm very surprised that China ranks so highly, considering their threat to Tibet, Taiwan, and the damage they've been causing in the Pacific. | somebody (208) | |

2007-06-10 03:31:00 | Egypt too shouldn;t be their considering their almost daily crackdowns on the Muslim Brotherhood, whom I dont like but they are democratically elected and Hosni Mubarak's plan to simply pass the title of President onto his son. | beeswax34 (63) | |
2007-06-10 04:34:00 | its a little flawed. a low poulation country that has an almost non existing military will always rate high. plus countries like NZ that have very little dangerous wild life will rate highly. it has very little bearing on actual crime in the country. New Zealand has low actual crime, but very high fear of crime.

2007-06-10 05:41:00 | New Zealand has low actual crime, but very high fear of crime. compared to who? also whats crimes are counted? most stats seem to be on violent crime, but each country has a different def of "violent crime". also don't forget a large number of crimes simply don't get reported. in some countries they actively discourage people from reporting crimes as it affects tourism and other businesses. a high fear of crime is not a bad thing. if its not feared it becomes an accepted event which makes crime a normal acceptable behaviour which simply breeds more crime.

Use whatever criteria you like - and see if you can build a case that New Zealand is a high crime country. It is a quiet back water I'd have thought. |
