| 748811 | 2009-02-17 20:16:00 | have Vista home premium and windows update is red and when I try to update it comes up with error 80070424 Checked forums online but nothing helps, just comes up with another error anyone having trouble with this and any clues as to fix without reinstall back to factory settings |

| 748812 | 2009-02-17 20:31:00 | Try this (www.vistaheads.com) Open an *Elevated* Command Prompt by right clicking cmd and choosing 'Run as administrator', stop the WU Service, and then register these files pressing Enter after each command NOTE: The net stop command may not be applicable in Vista. If so, then do this first: To stop the Windows Update service net stop wuauserv regsvr32 wuapi.dll regsvr32 wuaueng.dll regsvr32 wucltux.dll regsvr32 wudriver.dll regsvr32 wups2.dll regsvr32 wups.dll regsvr32 wuwebv.dll net start wuauserv exit Then reboot then try again |
