748598 2009-02-17 06:11:00 Hey i have a Compaq iPAQ Desktop PC (www.cl.cam.ac.uk) that I want to reinstall.
What would be the best and easiest way to do it?
Want to stick xp pro on it.

748599 2009-02-17 06:13:00 Boot from the XP cd, and install it

Only thing is, you'll probably have to find the drivers for it after

Thats probably the only way you're going to install it.

Unless that PC has a restore partition on it. But its probably not XP Pro

It has no cd drive and no floppy

748601 2009-02-17 06:21:00 Guess you'll have to buy a cd for it then

Not much you can do without one

Hopefully it can take one

What version of windows is on it and how much ram is in it

748602 2009-02-17 06:27:00 If i do install it with an external will it still read from it after it restarts and starts copying the files from the cd? nedkelly (9059)
748603 2009-02-17 06:29:00 Might, depends if the BIOS supports booting from an external cd, or cd Speedy Gonzales (78)
748604 2009-02-17 06:53:00 It was made for Win 2000 according to that site gary67 (56)
748605 2009-02-17 06:58:00 Should still work, with XP if its got enough ram

I thought this Laptop PCuser gave to me in here, wouldnt work with XP (It had 98 on it, but nothing on it,when he gave to me).

2k was a bit flimsy, I was surprised XP works on it with only 96mb lol
