559142 2007-06-14 19:45:00 The Safari 3 Public Beta was released on June 11 for Mac OS X and Windows XP/Vista. Soon afterwards security researchers found some security vulnerabilities in the initial release of the Windows XP/Vista version of the software. Safari 3.0.1 Public Beta for Windows is now available and addresses the following issues in Safari 3 Public Beta:

yep I have the same issue when clicking on a hyperlink on a page, but there doesn't appear to be anywhere in the settings to override, the bit under preferences only applies to the actions of external applications not safari itself
So opening a link in Safari (when the target is set as blank) will open a new window just like IE6

559146 2007-06-15 04:52:00 Uninstalled the first version of Safari after trying it for three days and I won't be using it again ever, P.of.S. zqwerty (97)
559147 2007-06-15 06:10:00 It would appear that there are still more fixes to come. winmacguy (3367)

In only 48 hours, Apple's web browser has probably gained considerable market share in a market dominated by Internet Explorer for over a decade and already quite successfully challenged by Mozilla's FireFox during the last four years.

Someone out there must like it....

have you tried right clicking the link. It should give you the option of new tab or new window

Hi plod

yep that is exactly what i do if I want to open it in a tab

but what i am meaning is, (I am crap at explaining so just hold your ggs)

With Firefox (I'm not sure if it is default behaviour or an extension that causes this) when i left click on a link that the site designer has set to open in a new window, instead of opening in a new window, it opens in a new tab, (same for opera)

The thing is you don't always know when a link is going to want to open a new window, normally when this happens I'm expecting the current page i am on to be replaced by the link i have just clicked, but then a new browser window opens up with the new page in it

It's not a big issue, it's just that i am used to firefox (and Opera) handling the tabs like this, and i loath having multiple browser windows open, mainly because i can never remember which tab on which window the info i want is on

Ps
What the hell is Airport base station?

As the apple software update was telling me i need to update it, I'm running windows 2K and I have never heard of it,
It is also telling me i need to update Safari, but I already updated safari using it this morning the damn update program seems to be stuck in a loop
I update safari it says complete then looks for more updates and tells me i have to update safari again and so on, it does the same thing with quicktime when I update it as well
Oh well Safari has Stable and i haven't had the missing font issue that other windows users are having, and im running it on an unsupported platform
