| 558786 | 2007-06-13 11:50:00 | Hello ^^ I'll be buying a laptop soon, in about a week or so time. I've been looking around for a while now though mainly through online shops (pricespy, dse, local Aklad retail shops etc) and reviews from different sources (notebookreivew, cnet etc). After some researching it seems the Compaq Presario V3209AU is the only one that fits my budget ($1300). However one thing that I dont quite like about this laptop is its thickness and the "warm" (and possibly hot) left palm rest (I have tried this laptop in different shops, some were warm while the others were hot ... :( ). So before I go and make the purchase in about a week or so time, I was wondering if some one here knows or would recommend any laptops that is similar to the Presario V3209AU (Turion TL50 256kb L2Cache, GeGo6150, 2.4Kg). Basically I'm looking for a laptop: -Under $1300 (i can stretch to $1500 if its worth it, though would like to save $200 on a gfx card for my desktop) -14" - 15.1" screen (smaller the better) -1GB RAM and no less -2.5kg or less -No preference for HDD or optical drives. -Silent -Cool (as in temp wise) -Good battery, obviously the longer the better, anything that could do a good 2hrs+ -University purposes (thus will be taking it around) Havnt comes across any laptops that meets those specs with my current budget, closest so far is the Presario V3209AU. So any recommendation would be great ^^ or even comments on the Presario V3209AU. *Ps reason for not chosing a CoreDuo is due to the Intel integrated gfx, b/c of my budget most/all laptop in this range are Pentium = Intel gfx, AMD = GeGo. Will be doing some very light gaming thus going with AMD Turions. Not going with Celeron for obvious reasons. Sempron...after using the desktop versions... :groan: So yeah :) Any comment or recommendation would be great. Thanks ^^ |

| 558791 | 2007-06-14 01:43:00 | Whether its preloaded with XP or Vista, I'll be wiping everything out, will be using my own config and OS rather than the preloaded ones . . . . As for Centrino laptops, well I havnt yet across any one with modern tech, mainly all old P4-M and round 256mb ram . Though am keeping an eye out for one, as it would be cheaper though problem is finding one . As for buying now, I have been considering that though it seems like always that when ever I buy something, it only takes a week or two time before the store slash their price even more . What worries me now is that the Presario V3209AU has a lot of unit sold, many shops that I went to has now all sold out >_< . Am hoping they are going to order more in . . . else better/cheaper laptops better come into the market :annoyed: As for dell, that was my first thought, though I would really like to try one before I buy . After many reviews it seems like dell laptops are pretty good though would still be very keen to "actually" try one before buying . Any one know any stores that sell Dell laptops? Thanks |

| 558792 | 2007-06-14 02:09:00 | As far as I know, Dells policy is that they only sell online in a "direct to the customer" method that is supposed to be cheaper and more cost effective. They are looking at ways of changing that in the US due to their lagging sales and profit margins. | winmacguy (3367) | ||
