2007-06-15 23:40:00 | I don't think that this article is "for" or "against" but it does present an interesting perspective. See what you think. Familiarity Breeds a User Base I must say that from my casual experience, Macs always seem to work better, be more intelligently designed, have a nicer screen interface and a bunch of other stuff. And honestly, after this most recent experience, for the first time in my life Ive seriously considered switching. So, why havent I, and, probably, why wont I? I think it basically comes down to two reasons. First, Ive been using PC-based computers for about 20 years. And over the years, Ive invested a serious amount of money in software and various gizmos, all of which are PC-based. That in itself is probably enough to keep me shackled down in the Wintel universe. daringfireball.net

2007-06-16 00:15:00 | Haha i seem to have poked the Wasp-hive with a 12 Gauge Shotgun :p "OH NOES he hates macs and we cant use the *you haven't used one long enough* excuse!" as for "sucking it in and getting used to it" that happened ages ago when i started my job - also i haven't got any "real" qualifications and im only 18 - ive used and worked on both platforms for about the same amount of time and ive narrowed it down to what i dislike about macs: first of all the OS - once i got "used" to it i still hated it with a passion second is the "aesthetics" yeah sterile white is a great color - give it a week and someones spilled coffee on it and its brown - either that or its yellow cause someone was smoking in the general area of it  and finally is the "high and mighty" attitude 99% of "hardcore" mac users have its just so frustrating trying to have a generic conversation with one - they ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO talk about or mention a apple product or else the bomb in their head is going to explode or something - im sure there are a bunch of mac users out there that can go a day or 2 without dribbling on about apple - but ive never seen one sorry :waughh: *sigh* ok i have said what i wanted to say - lets see if the mac users can do the unthinkable and DROP IT

2007-06-16 00:35:00 | second is the "aesthetics" yeah sterile white is a great color - give it a week and someones spilled coffee on it and its brown - either that or its yellow cause someone was smoking in the general area of it  That will happen to any computer that you drop coffee on regardless of colour. It sounds much like the rest of us in that your always going to have some part of your job that you don't enjoy unless you can set yourself up doing only what you want to do. It's a fact of life. At 18 I would say you have plenty of room to decide where you want your future to go.

2007-06-16 00:50:00 | sorry i should have explained the bit about my job a bit more :o the fact is i love my job - its so much fun and im being challenged all the time its great - the only small niggle i have is the looking after the mac lab's bit - but i don't really care its part of my job - it was in the job description and it was said in the ad in the paper when i applied for it even though i may not enjoy working with the macs im still going to fix them and look after them to the best of my ability - im not going to be all biased and do a half arsed job on the macs to go off and install more ram in that PC over there - i hate macs but im not going to let that fact get into my job - i Like my job too much to let that happen

2007-06-16 00:52:00 | Ignoring the propriety hardware / price et al stuff with Mac, I for one would love to try out a Mac OS. Something *different* is nothing to be afraid of or get freaked out about. It is the same that makes or breaks wanna-be Linux users as with Macs; the ability to adjust to a non-Windows OS without expecting it to be exactly like Windows. I think the more Windows-savy you are, the harder it is to adjust to suddenly not knowing anything, cannot find anything, don't know how to perform certain (even basic) tasks. No one likes having their techno know-it-all rug yanked out from under their feet and reduced back to a newbie status. It is how you then get over that feeling, deal with it and then just get on with it that makes the difference.
