| 748540 | 2009-02-17 05:34:00 | Hi Guy's, I am having difficulty connecting my iPhone to a wireless network I have setup at work . I can connect to my wireless network at home, however the WiFi network i have setup at work i cannot connect to . All our laptop clients at work can connect fine & the iPhone can see the network, it just can't connect to it . I thought it may have been WEP vs WPA (iPhones prefering one over the other) or maybe the channel or frequency, but have tried to duplicate the settings from home with no joy . We have a Linksys WAG54G v3 at work, only thing i haven't tried yet is upgrading the firmware on the router?! Is there any funnies with the iPhone that it dosen't like regarding connecting connecting to wireless networks?? Any help appreciated . Thanks . PS . the message is "Unable to join the network" Have even turned off encryption keys to try bypassing that with no luck . |

| 748541 | 2009-02-17 11:40:00 | Hi Darcy, welcome to PressF1! Who setup the WAG54G at work? Is there anything such as a MAC Restriction on it? The iPhone is quite possibly one of the more flexible handheld devices when it comes to WiFi IMO, and things such as WiFiFoFum are exceptionally useful :) Shouldnt require a firmware upgrade, should work just stock. If you have access to it (And are allowed to mess around with it) then you can try this: Grab a laptop, connect via Wireless, login to the WebGUI and backup the configuration to a file on your laptop. Then, do a restore to factory defaults. Guaranteed your iPhone can now connect unless there's some horribly remote hardware fault Ive never heard of (And Ive done lots with Linksys products and iPhones). Good luck Chill. |

| 748542 | 2009-02-17 20:17:00 | Sounds like it has the MACs locked down otherwise the iPhone can generally connect to wifi networks pretty easily. If you can get your iPhone MAC added to the wireless router, try that. On your iPhone go to Settings -> General -> About to get your WiFi/MAC address. |

| 748544 | 2009-02-19 01:26:00 | Hi Guy's, Thanks for the info, have tried your solutions. Allowed all MAC addresses. Allowed just my MAC address! No joy... I know it must be something simple, just can't find it.....so frustrating... I have complete access to works Wi-Fi as it's only in testing mode at present and not being used for production... Any other ideas? Thanks. |

| 748545 | 2009-02-19 01:38:00 | Yup, do a firmware upgrade then a factory reset and see if you can get it connected, prior to making any other settings / changes. Then, begin to lock it down bit by bit until you've found the culprit :) |

| 748549 | 2009-04-18 22:14:00 | You cant connect to an "Ad-hoc" network with your iPhone unless its Jailbroken (Dont ask about Jailbreaking it here). A direct device <-> device network is an adhoc network, such as Laptop <-> iPhone. You CAN do it if you have them both connecting to an Access Point :) |
