I didn't realise I could use the < and > keys to sort top's output. Very nifty. Can't see myself setting up a cron job to have the top output emailed to myself every 15 minutes though ... :rolleyes: |

| 560388 | 2007-06-18 12:09:00 | Those are some very good tips. The article mentions netcat (www.jfranken.de) (nc for BSDs). This is a very useful tool to test/open local/remote ports for transfers. Another mentioned is ssh. Check out their copy and ftp secure counterparts - scp and sftp. Two useful tools not mentioned are lsof (www.netadmintools.com) and screen (www.linuxjournal.com). |
