2017-05-23 21:34:00 | I rang Spark. Guy number 1 said he wasn't in that dept and just helping out the queue. I asked where he was then and he said I refuse to tell you that information and hung up. WTF? Guy number 2 said they had talked to neighbours. I said they had not. Then he said (after looking at something) they had cancelled the talking to neighbours. Then he said the next available time for inspection was on 29th. Said certain days available and that's earliest. I said were they going to ring and let me know that? He mumbled something about Chorus not being fast with info and booked it for then. I asked why so many people seemed to have an issue with the landline part and he said it's a case by case basis, sometimes it's Sparks equipment having an issue, sometimes it's Chorus equipment. That's informative. All going well, install on 6th so he says. I won't hold my breath.

2017-05-23 22:12:00 | The shared driveway issue can be a pain. My situation is 3 stand alone structures comprising 7 units on one driveway. One of the other 6 individual owners is blocking me. Citing privacy Chorus won't tell us who the one owner is but to their face everyone disavows any knowledge. Grrr. | WalOne (4202) | |
2017-05-24 11:03:00 | So annoying. We only have one other on the shared driveway and he was positive about it. He stated that even if he didn't need it for himself it could have an effect should he ever wish to sell his home. You have probably slipped that into the conversation/s. :D | Marnie (4574) | |
2017-05-29 06:34:00 | Well it's an arse.... He had a go, but he could not budge the copper down the existing pipe. It's jammed. Possibly squished when the driveway was paved, who knows. So alternative is: Cut across drive. Run cable down fence (ugh), cut across path and up into corner of house. The opposite corner from where things are now. He made neighbour sign by scaring her with if t=fence gets replaced, they have to re-run cable along new fence. I calmed her by saying 1)It's our problem not theirs 2) I'd reattach it myself anyway But yuk, just what husband fussed about and what I hoped to avoid.

2017-05-30 00:36:00 | God, husband was right. Yesterday they got their bloody neighbour form, he went, came back with 5 more guys, said they'll start cutting the drive. They sat about having cups of tea on roadside, left, never to be seen again. Rang Spark, Spark got told he was waiting for neighbour consent. Ah no. So now they chasing it again to see why him and his 5 guys haven't reappeared. We did the holes in floor, I have moved my cabling around to accommodate this new hideous install, attended to path ourselves. So having done half the work for them, where the hell are they?

2017-05-30 00:54:00 | Not sure if you have Facebook, but in all honesty, if you're being mucked around it's actually a pretty decent port of call for escalations. The people who run their FB page have a decent amount of pull and can help with that sorta thing... | Chilling_Silence (9) | |
2017-05-30 01:20:00 | I have a feeling we may be in the same situation PC. Driveway was sealed maybe 15 - 20 years ago. From what I can see, the cable goes right under the driveway and it is very tight in there. Haven't properly tried pulling it from the road end yet as that's probably a bad idea in case I break something, so will just have to wait a few years and see what happens when they try and install it... | wratterus (105) | |
2017-05-30 01:47:00 | Facebook - shudder. No thanks. I'll just whine here....if thats ok with you

2017-05-30 02:56:00 | Did I miss something? Is the driveway concrete or asphalt? I thought electricity companies and the like did most things using the thrusting equipment where otherwise digging up of drives, roadways etc were done decades ago. We had a small patch at the bottom of the fairly long and steep driveway and another at the top, where they started and finished below ground. When finished they came back and sealed the holes. Chilling is right, much as we may heap scorn on Facebook for it's negatives but there are many more positives and it does get results that other 'whine' outlets miss out on. | Marnie (4574) | |
2017-05-30 05:02:00 | Did I miss something? Is the driveway concrete or asphalt? . My drive is asphalt. The bit at the end (councils) is concrete, they want to cut across that join. They won't dig a trench the length of the drive. The fence they like is rotten, they won't run the cable along the bottom either, the neighbour hits it quite often with his cars - he has a sort of car yard business. If the fence is to be replaced - they tell me - we have to have the cable re-run, at our expense. So they say. Mad. So anyway.... finally got some response from Spark. Chorus cancelled it. Because of the consent they already had! Chorus mistake. Too bad, next earliest to resume is now 26th June. I hate the whole process, I hate the fence install idea. I hate that it's either this or wireless. Cause I can stall but sooner or later the copper will be gone. As I said I tried wireless, too much congestion here. Funny, the neighbour yesterday said she tried fibre but similar thing, and her appointment was going to be at least a month so she went wireless. They're not home much anyway, do minimal online so I guess it doesn't bother her too much.
