| 1435683 | 2017-05-26 05:10:00 | What debt they said we are surplus? It is a cash in cash out surplus (they call it the current account) National have been burning through money since they got in, to fund the unaffordable tax cuts you already got. How on earth they call themselves fiscally prudent beggers belief. Our sovereign debt under Helen Clarke and Labour was down to 6 billion. It is now 87 billion www.nationaldebtclocks.org The graph that B.M. shows is total of govt and private debt so is somewhat irrelevant. |

| 1435684 | 2017-05-26 05:37:00 | What's "Temporary Additional Support"? I thought there was only the Accommodation Supplement. I "All these people want loads of handouts but bugger all tax. How do they think the govt can do that?" I'm wondering if it's because of high rents . www.workandincome.govt.nz It says to temporarily help with expenses. In practice they use it to get around the low accommodation supplement. I've seen their calculator. It counts: rates Rent/mortgage House insurance Water rates Hmm...high rents. Yes Auckland has high rents. Friend said yesterday her sis was having a cry cause landlord put the rent up after 16 yrs. Went from $190 a week to $300. This is apparently awful cause A)He never put it up before b)He hasn't done anything, like replace the shabby carpet etc. This is a 3bdrm house with carport in Dinsdale, Hamilton. I checked, rents for 3bdrm there are $370 - $430 now. Also the house is apparently a small particle board box. Hmmm...I own a small particle board box. Bloody glad for it too. |

| 1435685 | 2017-05-26 05:54:00 | What's "Temporary Additional Support"? I thought there was only the Accommodation Supplement . I'm asking cause my daughter has just starting renting her apartment, and querying me about any rental support (perhaps from WINZ/MSD), if she were to lose her job or reduced hours . I should tell you that Accommodation Supplement is possible if that were to happen . But Temporary Support is pretty damn hard to get - and impossible if working, never mind how bad the pay . . workingforfamilies . govt . nz/calculator/index . jsp" target="_blank">www . workingforfamilies . govt . nz This tells you if you can get any accommodation . Do NOT select "I get a benefit" for income, as it just throws you out and tells you to ask WINZ . Add income, even if it is a benefit . Then follow the rest of the questions and it tells you . It will say MAY get, but it is what Winz uses and is accurate . Temporary Support implies help if unexpected costs come up but it's bollocks . My mum, on her single pension got told that by WINZ . I told her they wouldn't give her any . I was right . Because she doesn't have a mortgage (or rent) . Even if you have a low rent or mortgage, it doesn't count . That is what they use to see if you can get any . Problems with bills, or dead appliances or the like, they use Disability, Special Needs or Recoverable Assistance (you pay it back) . Rates are low for those too . Ie dentist, you can get a max of $300 . Dead HWC or leaking roof or something, max $1000 . Funeral max $2,030 . 91 . My mum got $600 - they deemed that sufficient based on her single pension . . Also, with accommodation its weird . Say you live in Auckland and you pay $400 a week . You as a couple would get the max of $125 . If you have kids a bit more . If though, you are a single person on the dole, you get $45 . Nothing to do with rent or mortgage actual costs, just how many of you there are . . . . They have lots of weird **** like that . workandincome . govt . nz/eligibility/urgent-costs/index . html" target="_blank">www . workandincome . govt . nz |

| 1435686 | 2017-05-26 10:56:00 | Wow must be bribe year, suddenly there is enough money for Tax cuts. Never mind everything else has gone up majorly. Same thing with Labour in their final budget before their ousting. Dr CULLEN was putting every penny into his new NZ super fund and the best thing that came out of that, was a reduction in our 33% tax to 17% on everything earned. Think there might be a changing of the guard this September !!. lurking. |

But look at it this way. You are loading a truck with metal chip, some red some blue. It doesnt matter how many red and how many blue you have, what does matter is the total load on the truck. And the loading of the truck is the responsibility of the Government. At the moment our truck is so overloaded its almost buried. Along those lines HERE (encounter.snapithd.com) is a link to a Webcam overlooking part of the Auckland Wharf, take a look at it from time to time over a couple of weeks and see how many cars come into the country. Where they go I have no idea but they all must have to be paid for. |

| 1435688 | 2017-05-26 21:21:00 | Interesting that the Greens voted with the government to pass the budget. About the first time I can remember that they have actually been for something instead of being automatically against. | CliveM (6007) | ||
| 1435689 | 2017-05-26 21:30:00 | Interesting that we have had quite a few ministers leave before they could get booted out know they have wrecked the country with record house prices and lower wages, wrecked the school system and can't work out hw to fix the tourism thing that is so overloading the country we cannot cope any longer. Oh well so long as the Nats are still putting money into their own accounts they don't care. | gary67 (56) | ||

Gary was inquiring about the so-called Government surplus, you showing him a graph showing a combination of Government and private debt was and still is somewhat irrelevant. I hope this clarifies things for you B.M. |
