| 1435316 | 2017-05-15 04:52:00 | For M.2 NVMe either a Samsung 960 Evo or Intel 600p if you can find one. Does make a big difference. :2cents: Of course your mainboard needs to have support for that. SSD prices are higher than they have been in the past. |

| 1435319 | 2017-05-16 03:42:00 | OK. Got my new Samsung 850 EVO SSD. Should I use the Samsung software to migrate my Windows or should do a fresh new install? |

| 1435320 | 2017-05-16 03:55:00 | Unless you need to keep something a fresh install is better for several reasons, 1. if your BIOS is not set to AHCI you can do it now and install, migrating then trying to change can cause issues and AHCI is the preferred choice for a SATA SSD 2. Just the regular "fresh install gets rid of bloat" reason 3. No alignment issues - should not really be an issue but some cloning tools mis-align the partition. would be disapointed if the Samsung software was guilty of this though Migrating can be easier though, when it works well it's the quickest way back to full operation and you can always do a clean install sometime in the future if required. One tip - put the old drive aside untouched for a few days until you are sure the new one is fully functional. Oh and tip 2, disconnect all but the SSD while installing |
