I refill my bottle at home (I have an on-bench filter) . I bet many others do as well.

1434775 2017-05-01 02:19:00 It's a natural reaction, sunlight speeds it up

Chlorine is lost when it reacts with bacteria and other organisms, but also when it is hit by sunlight. Chlorine forms hypochlorite ions in water, the molecule that is measured as free chlorine.

When ultraviolet radiation from the sun hits it, it breaks apart, releasing the chlorine as gas to the atmosphere. Sunlight is so effective in reducing chlorine that a bright sunny day can reduce the chlorination level of a pool by 90 percent in just two hours.

If your google I'm sure you can find some chemistry sites to explain it all properly.

Interesting. I was under the impression that once chlorinated, always chlorinated.

never had a swimming pool then huh.
Nope.

Its why it is added to Akld water nightly.
Sun kills it off, you can sometimes taste in the early morning.

we do it to our tank now and then. We don't drink the tank water but it stops the tank going green and filling up with algae etc.

I can't understand why you have to carry a bottle of water. What did you used to do before there was bottled water?

I would like to see the reaction when You walked down the street & latched onto one of those. Only babies are allowed to do that. PJ.

Sorry that was a bit rude of me. I beg your pardons. PJ.

If you just take the bottled water, very shortly the stuff the fan is redirecting will become copious and unpleasant.

1434782 2017-05-01 07:48:00 I once worked at a Service station in Perth. Distilled water for batteries, and Spring Water for drinking were sold on the forecourt. Both were tap water which had stood for a while. It amazes me how many people believe the blurb written on fancy packaging. mzee (3324)

Drinking water from the tap is one thing, selling it as distilled water for batteries is outright fraud though. The minerals in tap water are really not good for them, there's a good reason you are supposed to use actual distilled water.
