2017-05-28 23:24:00 | So I've noticed today, at 3 different locations, there has been a really nice bump in speed on ADSL/VDSL in this area (on two different cabinets too). No profile changes - both VDSL connections are still on 8B. One location on ADSL has gone from around 12Mbps to over 16Mbps, on the same exchange a VDSL connection has gone from around 46/8 to 53/11 and one on a separate cabinet has gone from around 23/4 to 32/6! Anyone else notice a difference? Wonder what Chorus have managed to tweak this time? :punk

2017-05-28 23:40:00 | Make that 4 locations - another ADSL gone from around 9 to 16Mbit download! | wratterus (105) | |

Also without elaborating too much (not sure what I'm allowed to say on the subject), chorus are replacing some older exchange equipment with Newer hardware. Shouldn't change connection speed in theory though unless moving from ADSL to VDSL in the process. May improve backhaul performance. |

2017-05-28 23:55:00 | My VDSL connection has gone from around 40/10 to 65/25 in the past couple of weeks. No fibre around here as yet. | CliveM (6007) | |
2017-05-29 01:17:00 | Interesting, just checked my ADSL sync and it has gone from around 14250kbs to 16878kbs. Fibre has just become available in our road, but I've seen only one house with Chorus people there. | Terry Porritt (14) | |
2017-05-29 01:55:00 | There's no fibre around here yet - well not much anyway. And these changes were definitely all at the same time, and on more than one exchange/cabinet. L | wratterus (105) | |
2017-05-29 02:37:00 | Chorus are also standardising the equipment in a lot of their cabinets bringing them up to the same standard. Might be part of it. | dugimodo (138) | |
2017-05-29 02:47:00 | Well good on them. I am technically in a VDSL area (since Chorus tweaked some profiles?) a while ago. When we tried it, the download speed did improve from around 12 to 15Mbps, however the upload was only 300k and it was terrible, so changed back to ADSL. I'm tempted to try VDSL again now.... :p | wratterus (105) | |
2017-05-29 03:18:00 | 49 MBPS up, 5.01 down. I guess it has improved, but the upload is variable over a wide range, often halting completely for a while. No matter, most of the time the service we use is wireless, and really too expensive to do speedtests on. 50 & 5 seems a lot better than I remember though for the twisted wires.
