1435557 2017-05-20 22:37:00 Internet speed was really slow, used Ookla Speedtest to check up/down speeds and was shown my IP address was in the Netherlands and I live in New Zealand. When using Ookla before it always showed my IP correctly and showed map of NZ.
Up/Down speeds were 13.5Mb/s and 0.95Mb/s respectively. But it was showing my being in Amsterdam, Holland.
Also, up to date Firefox Browser showed in its Opening page that it was in Nederland, Frysk.
Contacted my ISP who said that when using Ookla or any speedtest utilty I can be given a random IP address...no !@#$ I thought, having never had it happen before.
ISP tech asked me to open cmd prompt and key in tracert google.com and the result is shown below. All info is correct for my IP address and Flip ISP.

The tech at Flip then asked me to open a browser and enter google.com in the Address bar which I did and it opened a Google Home page stating It/I am in Nederland. The tech said that it would seem that my browser prefers to have me in the Netherlands.
That was as far as the investigation went.

This was done after my Internet Security had said I had 2 outdated apps and to update them. One was Firefox Browser.... that updated to version 53.0.3 (x86) and on my seeing it was coming up Nederland I uninstalled Firefox and downloaded/installed fresh from Mozilla site, which didn't get shot of the Nederland connection.
Then I contacted my ISP.
This Nederland connection only happens in Firefox. I try to watch Attenborough's Frozen Planet www.discovery.com and get refused with a notice stating that "Musk Ox Save Calf from Wolves is currently unavailable in Netherlands"
So apparently I am in the Netherlands and not New Zealand.

Any ideas about this and a fix would be appreciated.
Thanks

1435558 2017-05-20 23:05:00 See if this helps: Google uses your location and by the looks has got lost somehow.

Have a look at the following, support.google.com

8058

You're not using a VPN or some other type of IP altering program are you ?

Also check in the region setting / Location ( control Panel) that they are set to New Zealand and not Netherlands.

BTW "Musk Ox Save Calf from Wolves" also says ---- Musk Ox Save Calf from Wolves is currently unavailable in New Zealand.

yep I checked the Musk Ox saves link in Google Chrome and received the not available in NZ message....
No VPN or IP altering apps in use at all.
Control Panel, Region and Language / Location was set at United States so I set that to default New Zealand
I went to the link you supplied and did a search in Google...Homepage/Search engine had been set to initialsite123 so I went into Google Settings, deleted all entries for initialsite and made google.com the Search Engine.
At bottom of the webpage it shows I am in "Auckland - From my Internet address" ... whereas when Search Engine was initialsite123 it was somewhere else and I didn't note the name of the place but it had the look of a name from up in the Netherlands.
Run ookla speedtest beta in Google Chrome and it shows connecting to servers in Hamilton and Aukland that I used to test.
But, running speedtest in Firefox still shows incorrect IP address and ISP...it shows my IP as being 188.166.121.88 and my ISP as being Digital Ocean.
Maybe I just have to use Chrome and that is completely alien browser to me...no Bookmarks etc etc.
Most peculiar and annoying but what can one do.
Thanks

1435560 2017-05-21 03:35:00 Chrome browser can import your bookmarks.
Maybe you have discovered a really cheap way to travel:)

1435561 2017-05-21 03:45:00 You'll need to do a more extensive removal process than that to get rid of initialsite123 I think bevy121 (117)

1435564 2017-05-21 07:45:00 In Firefox/Tools/Options/Advanced/Network - Configure how Firefox connects to the Internet - Settings - Configure Proxies To Connect To The Internet - Choose/ No Proxy

Possibly will fix the problem

yeah I wondered that also. It didn't, I downloaded and used Spyhunter 4 Mobile and that showed me 7250 close enough infections...mostly (7150) Elex something Adware....didn't remove them, had a pop up saying 'Couldn't instal SHOS"...so I got shot of that app.... Downloaded and used Hitman Pro 3.7.0 30 day trial and used that.....didn't find initialsite 123 either...... also used Zemana.Anti.Malware. Portable and that did zich to find initialsite123...... however I use revo Pro and removed a app listed as 'commar' because it was listed in Zemana AV and removed it...so I did it too in Revo. Howver, the problem I have now solved. Thanks

1435566 2017-05-21 08:05:00 Problem solved
After attempting more Ookla speedtests and being shown as having IP in Netherlands, and typing google.com in address bar of F-Fox and getting the Nederland Google page...and then clicking the option to 'Use google.com' which is at bottom left of the Homepage, I would not have a homepage with a URL google.nl...... so I checked Settings and Search engine was Google so I did what I thought was a good try and Revo'd Firefox off of my computer and did a fresh download and Instal of v53.o.3 x86 and still noticed when I put google.com in address bar it was opening to Nederland URL....so I decided to click the option to 'Refresh Firefox and remove old settings' hoping to hell it didn't wipe out all my bookmarks and after all was done I have now got my FFox Browser opening to www.google.co.nz :D
Trying ookla now opens and gives Flip info and does speedtests from where I am to Auckland or another chosen server here in NZ.
Must have been a corruption in a Firefox setting somewhere.
Happy chappy here.

Thank you all for the input.
