| 1435089 | 2017-05-10 00:47:00 | I did a trip based on my photography thru the South Island visiting the country towns,t he lakes etc and they didn't like that too much. Are most people really into bigger cities and overseas? About the only places they liked was Queenstown and Christchurch. Obviously we stuck to the busy waterfront and Riccarton Mall etc. | Nomad (952) | ||

North Island I haven't been further north than Broadwood, haven't been to Gisborne, New Plymouth but have been pretty mush everywhere else in the rest of it. Only oversea place I have been is Bali once. Wouldn't go again. I do know a lot of Southlanders have never been further north than Ch/ch and go more often to Australia than anywhere in NZ. Silly people.... |

My mistake was taking them to the country towns, they really didn't like that. In the larger towns they stuck to coffee shops, waterfronts and bars, and malls. | Nomad (952) | ||

| 1435095 | 2017-05-10 11:29:00 | Your friends grow up in a city? I find a lot of city people don't know what to do with themselves in the country. It's not a criticism, just an observation. I'm getting a bit that way myself, gotten used to having things to do nearby when I'm bored. I grew up in small towns and still like them but since leaving home have lived mostly in Hamilton for work. I love getting out of the city for a while when the weather is good. Maybe it's more that city folk like cities rather than NZers do. |

They're not into hikes or kayaking etc. The township can be quite small. Yep, not just NZders. Maybe the people that grew up in cities in NZ prefer overseas cities. You hear that people prefer going to Australia than visit other parts of NZ right ... or they go to Fiji or Hawaii or LA, or the ever popular Bali and Thailand. |
