1435068 2017-05-09 19:28:00 Well I used to own a Mendel and have built about 10 Prusas. I no longer have one as I found I couldn't actually make anything that was useful to me.

Unless you are into product development or prototyping then I wouldn't bother.

Never thought of monetising (bigthink.com) 3D printing somehow? Creativity - may be needed but be easy for some?

1435070 2017-05-09 23:21:00 I was selling the printers. But as I said what you can actually make isn't very useful and is more expensive than just buying on Aliexpress gary67 (56)

Thats what put me off buying one. I was really keen, but could only think of just 2 things to print .
Then , add all the time in learning how to assemble , setup , config & debug. Would be fun, but a huge spare time hog .

I even looked on websites for recommended things to print, but nothing worthwhile .

1435072 2017-05-10 04:38:00 If you can't visualise a thing it would be desirable to make with any machine, buy a big TV and a comfortable chair.

You weren't particularly useful for the first few years, but your mother persisted, and look at you now, a taxpayer fully entitled at any time to be derided and exploited by the government.

or, perhaps if you cant visualize USEFUL things to make, perhaps you dont NEED that machine.
Theres only so much use for horrid printed plastic cups, plastic squares & plastic animals . :)
plastic printed tools , no thank you .

I'd love a 3D printer, as well as a lathe, milling machine, welder etc . I simply dont have any good use for any of them, apart from tinkering & time wasting.
