750022 2009-02-21 08:02:00 Hi All...This is related to the "DVD Recorder" thread in the Chat.

I have an Imation Computer DVD recorder player, external. Model No
IMW16DL84RAME-08.

Last year my PSU blew up & took everything with it. The Imation was connected at the time.

The Computer was rebuilt. However the internal DVD had a disc shatter in it & it destroyed the DVD record/player. Not covered by warranty.

I am trying to re-install the Imation to this Comp. This MB is a sata, the other wasn't. I should be able to instal the Imation, assuming that it is Ok, shouldn't I?

I have been trying to find Drivers for this model. There was a firmware update for it & I downloaded it, but it has disappeared into the innards & I cannot find it. Any Advise, Please. PJ

750023 2009-02-21 08:27:00 Shouldnt need drivers, windows should detect it and install them

If its connected now, make sure its on AUTO in the BIOS (whatever its connected to)

This sounds like its IDE not a SATA (if the old mobo didnt have SATA)

So, should be connected to an IDE connection, not a SATA connection

Line 1...OK

Line 2...Don't know how to do that.

Line 3... Correct. Old mb was IDE, new is Sata.

Line 4...Unit is external using USB.

When I put a DVD in it to try it, the comp locks up & I have to restart to free it up. PJ

750030 2009-02-21 09:07:00 Even tho the tray opens, is it connected to mains power?

It may do the same thing, if you connect it to a USB port, but may not get recognised unless its connected to the mains
