750006 2009-02-21 07:03:00 Hi got Win 7 beta on disc with the mag was wondering if I could run it in virtual box but have discovered it's not an iso. So if I dual boot it with XP how easy is it to remove when it runs out do I just delete the partition and then remove it's entry in the boot ini? I have never done that before so just wanting some clarification before I install it on my spare testing machine.

:thanks

750007 2009-02-21 07:10:00 Is the DVD itself bootable?? If it is, just point VBox to the physical drive and run Setup from it :) jwil1 (65)
750008 2009-02-21 07:39:00 You can use Easy Bcd to manage the boot entries if you decide to dual boot Blam (54)
750009 2009-02-21 07:54:00 Done that with XP/Vista in virtual box , when you when you install VB you have to allocate a certain amount of disk space for the installs, you install the OS in VB, it doesn't do anything to the original OS's booting up. (think of it as a BIG file)

You open VB when in the original OS - to install you have to make sure the VB is active - when installing the OS, it will load in as if it were a seperate drive ,to uninstall it, Read the manual section 3.6 Page 44.

Old saying - if all else fails Read the Manual (www.virtualbox.org) - you can download it from that link as PDF, what you are after is in section 3

750011 2009-02-22 00:41:00 So VirtualBox enables you to create virtual machines on the host computer in order to run another Operating System within the same environment?

In other words, it works similar to Microsoft Virtual PC?

750013 2009-02-22 04:42:00 Yep have it running on the spare PC just need to check all my stuff has drivers for Vista so that I can make the change once it comes out. From what I have seen so far I like it. gary67 (56)

Oh right. Perhaps this is the reason why I can't run Ubuntu iso using Microsoft Virtual PC?
