2009-02-19 05:29:00 | As the title says - bit of history - from a customer of mine, The boss asked me to help with this PDA - the employee who had the use of the iPAQ Pocket PC got the sack - and now no one knows what the password is to get into it. Theres nothing on it they want ( data) - only to be able to use it again for someone else. I suggested asking for the password and was told "you can guess what he would say" :xmouth: Tried the HP recommended "Hard Reset" holding down the bottom two buttons etc as described here (www.hardreset.eu) BUT the bloody password stays  Tried ringing HP , the default factory password doesn't work either. HP suggested taking it into the service center, and getting a quote to "fix it" - if we didn't like the quote price it would be a charge of $65 as a "quote Fee" - like hell. Question - does any one know how to blow the password on one of these damn things. or even wipe it and start from fresh (no software either available) Any legit and positive answers that DO work 100% I suggest a PM so the whole world wont see the "secret".

2009-02-19 05:37:00 | This works for my Dell, and I suspect for other PDAs too. What you have to do is remove the main battery and if neccessary, the back up button battery too. If it's an old school ipaq 3900 series, then you'll have to unscrew the main battery. There's no back up battery on a ipaq 3900 series. Leave unpowered for 2-3 minutes. Reconnect the batteries. Doing this will reset the OS to factory settings. No passwords.

2009-02-19 05:46:00 | Tried leaving the battery out for 5 minutes :( before ringing HP - they actually suggested 7-8 HOURS  which it is currently doing - only 4.5 hours to go :waughh: (8 hrs) Thanks for the suggestion. | wainuitech (129) | |

2009-02-19 08:46:00 | h20000.www2.hp.com Looks like it should only take 10minutes with the battery out. I would go hunting for the small internal backup battery.

2009-02-19 10:07:00 | They have two batteries One is the main power, and the second is a "backup" battery that ensures all the data is retained even in the event you run the first battery flat. *both* need to be flat in order for it to work :)
