I'm beginning to wonder where her little narrow-minded crusades will end :eek: What next... dropping the age of sexual consent to 14??? Or will she take up where the Brits are arguing and make it illegal to have consentual sex with an intoxicated woman? The mind boggles :waughh: Anyway, do you think dropping the age limit for voting (to 16) is a good idea, or not? Or is it just a way of getting more gullible voters?	Myth (110)

I think it shouldnt be compulsory for registration or for voting, Id be hoping for more educated voting later in their lives. I dont see anything wrong with them voting with their parents, thats how it always was for years. However, I dont see this as needing to be tied to at blah blah age they can have sex, go to war, rah rah rah. Im quite prepared to change my mind. The generalised NO call from the public, half of them are doing that cos its Sue Bradford who has brought this up. The other half are saying NO cos it sounds good. Doesn't that kind of illustrate the point a sixteen year old is too young? If they just vote based on what their parents are voting, then it proves they are too young. That is not to say an 18 year old isn't influenced by other people, but at least an 18 year old is old enough to be able to make a more informed decision, hopefully having investigated each party's policies etc. It doesn't seem logical to say you are old enough to decide something as important as how the country is run at 16, but are too young to buy alcohol. If the Greens say sixteen year olds aren't old enough to decide what food they buy for lunch (see quote from their site below), then how can they possibly be old enough to vote? I don't think most 16 year olds would have much of an interest in voting anyway. The Healthy Food campaign initiative includes: [...] prohibiting the sale of fat, salt and sugar laden food and drinks in vending machines at schools; these should contain only natural juices, water, milk and healthy food snacks.	maccrazy (6741)
