also i've seen way to much of HV going through insulation and skipping along earths. while in theroy its safe, there is still a chance of being fried.

Its not as dangerous as it looks because the cage keeps it off you.

Speaking of working on computers, years ago husband and I took apart an A500 to fix the mouse port that had broken away form the board, and didn't take note of which way the shield at the back went on.

So turned it on with it still apart, and aoh look, pretty big blue arc right across from one side to the other.
We admired it for a second.

The computer survived perfectly too.
Amazingly.
