2009-02-21 06:58:00 | Does anyone know of a software that is not only free to download but does NOT have a fee/charge to register? My Computer is SO slow running all of these processes but i don't know which ones to stop and which ones to keep. I've used HijackThis, and SpyBot:Search and Destroy, but neither got rid of my unnecessary processes...Simple... msconfig and google.com Costs nothing

2009-02-21 08:08:00 | my brother just bought a new Toshiba laptop running Vista. It takes 3 mins to boot, control alt del shows 87 processes running at bootup. As default, and I havn't even installed Nod32 onto it yet! | apsattv (7406) | |

2009-02-21 23:38:00 | You can disable indexing, that might speed things up. And do a defrag too

2009-02-22 00:22:00 | You can remove /disable these from startup theyre its still there iviRegMgr.exe RegMgr Module SDWinSec.exe Spybot-S&D Security Center Integration SearchIndexer.exe Microsoft Windows Search Indexer Its probably because of HP's crap, when it runs on startup

In msconfig, the popup that comes up, have a look in startup. Find the exe names, then search for those exe names in google. It will generally tell you what they are for, whether they are needed on startup etc etc Untick the un-needed ones (Quicktime, MSN messenger for example) then ok I have found a lot of speed can be gained just by dropping the amount of startup items to those actually needed, rather than wanted. |
