749262 2009-02-19 05:30:00 I recently replaced the graphics card in my laptop.

On reassembly, pushing the on button the screen shows nothing. My friend says maybe the HDD is at fault, so I replaced the HDD with a newly foramtted one. Still nothing.

Anyway tips here? Both HDDs are fine when placed in a cady, so I tend to think that something else is amiss.

Anyway words of wisdom?

749263 2009-02-19 05:40:00 Seeing as you replaced the graphics, I'd be suspecting that first.
They don't have "cards" as such either.

749264 2009-02-19 06:02:00 Might need a bit more info than that, like what sort of laptop & just how you managed to replace the graphics card. Driftwood (5551)
749265 2009-02-19 06:19:00 Okay, not a graphics card per se. How about component/ part/ thingee?

The laptop model in question is a Compaq NX 7010. It's about four years old. The graphics, err, part was replaced by taking the whole laptop apart. I even had to take off the screen since it's hinges were they are attached to the chasis. The graphics component was then slotted into place, by lifting up the upper part of the casing. Violent stuff when it comes to laptop repair.

The laptop might have been damaged at this stage.

749266 2009-02-19 07:06:00 Go and dig a hole and bury it in your backyard before it rots.:D bk T (215)
749267 2009-02-19 07:13:00 lol.

I was thinking of selling it on ebay if no solution arises.

Dead lappie = parts for other compatable models.

749268 2009-02-19 07:21:00 Yes, you may well have created yourself an expensive door stop.
A little more to it than fitting a new radiator in a Holden.

749269 2009-02-19 07:50:00 In laptop terms, it'd be a paperweight.

I just wish it was just a matter of pick and replace, sometimes I wish it was as easy as dropping a new part in a Holden.

Thank you everyone for considering this problem.

749270 2009-02-19 07:58:00 Perhaps it could have an unfortunate accident now.

Oh, yeah, it has........:badpc:

A thought - maybe the screen isn't attached properly? Could take it apart again and check all the connections on everything. They are fiddly and something could be slightly out........Worth a try.

749271 2009-02-19 08:01:00 Check all the plugs and sockets, you have forgotten to put one back on, probably the display connector. porkster (6331)
