Hackers target 'legitimate' sites Online bank login, BBC The key logging software tries to steal login data More than 10,000 websites have become unwitting hosts of malicious software, say security experts. Those visiting the hijacked pages risk having keylogging software installed on their PC if it is not protected with the latest patches. | 561192 | 2007-06-21 02:21:00 | We are getting a lot of spoofed sites here . . . and I don't think the US is in particular the sole place with it . I run SiteAdviser . . but that's not a full safety device . I like and ran (until Firefox updated and killed it) a thing called "SpoofStick", which I still have running on Internet Exploder . What I see is that you think you are at www . xyz@clowns . org and at least that is what you clicked on, but you get redirected to www . nastienymphos@scareu . net . Even worse is when they send up a screen that looks like the real McCoy, but is in Sophia, Bulgaria and they just emptied your checking account for you after you THOUGHT you were working with you own bank . Now . . that's scary! I set Firefox up to report the URL in the bottom of the screen to tell me where I went . . . it's done so long ago, I don't even remember how I did it . . but if the top URL and the bottom URL don't match . . exit the site and close the browser . AND! This is a screaming example of old news . . and things that have been talked about here, but there are newer people if not n00bs here for the first time . . . so let's not say that they should use a SITE SEARCH for the answers . . . we wuz all young'uns once . . . even at the advanced age when we took up this soul-satisfying and mind-calming thing called computers . :2cents: |
