750250 2009-02-22 06:17:00 Hello, I've replaced a mobo due to leaking capacitors.

Old one is a GA-8SIML,

and replacement is a Intel D845GLAD.

Problem is I can't turn on the computer because the on switch plugs don't match with the plug on the mobo!

Is it posible to splice up the wires to make it match?

Sigh, I have the equipment and soldering skills to replace the caps, but I didnt. sigh:S

750253 2009-02-22 06:45:00 So youre talking about the connector from the front to the header where the power / reset pins are etc?

If you are, just cut in between (with something sharp - razor blade), the lines on the connector from the front

Or get a needle remove the wire/s from the front connector, put them in the right sockets

750254 2009-02-22 08:30:00 Thats, thats what I'm looking to do.

But I don't know which wires go where. :S

I see the wires are coloured, but the mobo plug isn't really labled.

Does any one know where goes where?

750255 2009-02-22 08:39:00 Take another pic of the connector from the front with the labels showing

Whats the brand / model of the case?

Is the replacement a P4 400 fsb motherboard?

I would say the connections are under front panel (on the bottom) here (support.intel.com)

Now all we have to figure out, is what the front connector goes to

750256 2009-02-22 08:44:00 The front panel connectors are a standard arrangement :D - in the manual pages 64 & 65 tell you what goes where.

but here they are any way Front Panel Header (www.imagef1.net.nz) Numbered - and What goes where (www.imagef1.net.nz)

Just in case you need it for the remainder of the plugs/ headers - Heres the Manual (ftp://download.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/D845GLLY/ADLY_English.pdf) (PDF)

You are right! they are standard connectors.

Following the manual, I got the on switch working!

Thanks!!
