562517 2007-06-25 03:03:00 Is it true home basic cannot play dvds?
I am referring to this thread-

microsoftwindowsvista.tv

I cannot afford the more expensive versions of vista which is why home basic appeals to me.

562518 2007-06-25 03:18:00 Yup according to other sites Home Basic and Business cant play DVD's.

They havent got the MPEG 2 codecs.

Just install a standalone DVD program. Or a codec pack.
