562811 2007-06-26 07:43:00 Quite correct. You wouldn't catch me dead in front of an xbox (its the MS POS thing) and I can't afford to be buying Wii consoles willy-nilly. I was actually basing that comment on something Chris said: Was Chris wrong?

He was probably quite right which is why the PSIII is so expensive. Judging by the success of the Wii you don't need mind blowing graphics to make a fun interactive gaming experience. You need a good price break and a cleverly simple concept.

562812 2007-06-26 07:47:00 Metla, Nintendo is doing so well thanks to the Wii that last week, their market value actually exceeded that of Sony's which is pretty staggering when you compare the sheer scale of Sony's operations to Nintendo. beeswax34 (63)

562815 2007-06-26 08:03:00 Apple selling itself only on brand awareness is not quite the full story.
Apple's brand awareness certainly goes a long long way in helping the product to sell but it is not the only factor in the companies success. Then how do you say Apple sell the iPod? features? the lack of FM radio for one, the NEED to install iTunes? The probable need to convert videos just to go onto it? reliability? replacement? shall I go on? it is EXACTLY as Myth said, it is ALL in the name... Personally I would never buy an Apple product for that fact, yes if someone gave one to me I would use it................................................ .................................................. .... as target practice :D but not as its purpose.

The more mind blowing the GFX are, the more REALISTIC the game is... I don't know much about the Wii, but all games that I have seen (not very many I will admit) all look to be arcade style in which mind blowing GFX are not as essential as they are to Simulators or FPS or Racing genres. And don't forget the Wii is the cheapest out of the PS3 and Xbox 360

I think you have taken my "the above comments were made...." the wrong way. I was actually talking about myself. Unless I have taken your comments the wrong way, and if I have

I shall shut up now

I think beeswax answered that question about 5 posts back TEoR. Your quite right though Wii is the cheapest of the game consoles. It is also the most popular over a wider segment of the market including new comers. That, I think speaks volumes about the success of the concept. PSIII despite its awesome graphics is struggling to maintain sales of expensive consoles and therefore profitability in a very competitive market.

I have seen a demo of Ridge Racer or what ever it was called on the PSIII in a Noel Leemings store by one of the sales guys and I can say that yes the graphics were very impressive although the price was more than I would be willing to pay for a gaming console.

Just for the record, how many MP3 units have Creative sold?

Just for the record, how many MP3 units have Creative sold? It all comes back to what can people afford? PS3 or Wii? the obvious option is the Wii... so people who want a console will serisously consider the Wii

I don't actually care how many they have sold... you want to know you go find out I couldn't care less about figures I care about the actual PRODUCT. All you seem to care about is the number...

Judging by the respective sales numbers I would say more people have been interested in the Wii than the PSIII and you can't argue with money in the bank ;)
