750470 2009-02-23 20:55:00 Do you claim to have enough experience to rule out Hitachi & Samsung or can you only remember 2 brands?
I've had 2 Hitachis. One was secondhand at 3 months old, the other a warranty replacement. Warranty replacement failed within a week, then gave away the first one to a friend. Its fate unknown.

Never owned a Samsung, but it's not one of the two leading HDD manufacturer. Just like the case in ATi, Nvidia, Matrox, Via etc.

That happened so long ago it's probably time for some disaster to occur.

@ qazwsxokmijn Market share is rather meaningless if it comes with outsourcing to factories all over Asia. Can you expect all drives to have the same quality?

Yeah, I know. It's a matter of personal preference really.
