| 562321 | 2007-06-24 21:05:00 | Good for watching the rugby or the yachting though :D | winmacguy (3367) | ||
| 562322 | 2007-06-24 21:15:00 | personally I dont watch rugby and as for the yachting......well I assume you mean the america's cup......and I"m not particularly interested in watching that either .....a whole lot of over paid people 'racing' around a harbour in multimillion dollar yachts is hardly real yachting.....(that's my opinion anyway) My wifes brother now, he's a real yachtie.....he races the melbourne to osaka run every year and has indeed won it. This year there was zero coverage of it on tv here in nz and I was annoyed at that he did very well had two boats in it both built by him, he builds em, one crewed by himself and another guy and the other boat one he'd built for a client. He had some bad luck with rudder damage that put him out of the race for a few days....yet when they got goin again they did so well they not only caught up with everyone they passed most of them and actually finished 4th . INdeed if they hadn't had that problem they woulda won the race days ahead of everyone else litereally.... now that is real yacht racing. |

As for yachting on the Auckland Harbour, well there are gin palaces out there and there are tinnies, optamists, trailer sailors, windsurfers, launches, speed boats etc etc so there is something for all wallets (even mine ;) in the windsurfing department) . There is also racing for all interests as well, it's just a matter of finding the right one. :) Must admit if I was going to have an $18,000 TV I'd want to have a kick ass media centre/server setup to go with it. Possibly something like this www.apple.com |
