| 562101 | 2007-07-03 21:17:00 | Just to look on the bright side. NZ government has put aside an interim $10M for the next AC. Grant Dalton has said he wants another shot at it and the major sponsors are happy with the results sponsorship wise but would not say whether they well commit themselves to the next AC. Trevor :) |

| 562107 | 2007-07-04 03:01:00 | I reckon. That more than anything gets my respect. I know absolutely nothing about yachting but when I saw the boys still busting their gut despite stuff like that happening - and not whining about it afterwards like Berterelli did after race 3 - that speaks volumes about their character. Butterworth and co. may be the best in the business, but Barker and Dalton epitomise what Kiwi guts and pride are all about. The Swiss can keep the rest of them as far as I'm concerned. |

| 562109 | 2007-07-04 05:04:00 | It may get harder to even get to the finals next time. On the RNZ News this morning there was some remark that some of the winning crew could be poached by Oracle. Oracle will probably contain more NZers, than the next Team NZ team if it happens. I don't have a problem with the government giving $10 million to Team NZ plus the extra $30 million later on, that they have implied they will provide, however there are also other opportunities in NZ. I think Barker maybe poached by another team. Team NZ unfortionately made too many mistakes. Anyone know why TNZ didn't do the penalty turn right on the line, instead of 50 metres back from the line. If they had, they would have won, as they wouldn't have had to build up the momentium to go that 50m distance after the penalty turn. They also made the mistake of taking the left instead of the right on the upwind legs, which they have made the same mistake in the last 3 races. In sailing 'right', is usaully always 'right, even when it is wrong. I think they should go back to smaller faster boats, which should bring the cost down, and make the races more exciting. |
