2009-02-23 06:50:00 | I am aware that there has been a problem with slow loading of pages over the last week or so but my desktop PC is still taking 2 minutes+ to load. When I manage to login I am still waiting at least 2 minutes for the page to change. On my laptop it takes less than 10 seconds. Saturday and Sunday Desktop couldn't get further than "Adserv". No problem with laptop access. Desktop is using W2K PRO. IE6. (Don't suggest IE7!) ccleaner. Mailwasher. Malwarebytes. Comodo F/W. Asus K7N-E D/Luxe. 1 Gig RAM. All software updated on regular basis. Ccleaner run everyday. When I have managed to login and go to read forum I have to wait forever for items or pages to reload and often it takes so long that the welcome panel does not contain my name. So it looks like I have been logged off. Laptop is Asus A6U. Win XP. IE7 'cos it works on this. Ccleaner and all other neede protection. All softwares maintained as above.:help:

2009-02-23 06:54:00 | If you want to stick with IE7 then you'll want to get IEPro which will block the ads making pf1 slow for you. For firefox, you could noscript, adblockplus, or a stylish script

Errrr Wrong way around there Blam - I use IE7 and IEpro- with the ad block activated and it loads FASTER than FF with the script. Eited: just timed it - FF with the script/adblockplus - 10 seconds, & IE7&pro 4 seconds. Cleared the cache before hand as well. |

2009-02-23 07:09:00 | Wainuitech. Am I to understand that EI7 now works with W2K? Some months ago I booted d/top and was greeted by MS fullpage+ advert for IE7 that I was unable to remove and it took a 5.5 hour chat with helpdesk in Aus to get my PC back. Ironically middle of the screen in big red letters. "IE7 will not work with Win2K PRO" | bluenose (14548) | |

2009-02-23 08:19:00 | Have you tried resetting the broswer? Not sure if you can do it in IE6, but in IE7 its tools>options>advanced>reset BTw this deletes all history and saved passwords

2009-02-23 08:35:00 | Wainuitech . Am I to understand that EI7 now works with W2K? Some months ago I booted d/top and was greeted by MS fullpage+ advert for IE7 that I was unable to remove and it took a 5 . 5 hour chat with helpdesk in Aus to get my PC back . Ironically middle of the screen in big red letters . "IE7 will not work with Win2K PRO" Dont think IE7 works on W2000 - its simply to old . Microsoft Quoted: It should be no surprise that we do not plan on releasing IE7 for Windows 2000 . One reason is where we are in the Windows 2000 lifecycle . Another is that some of the security work in IE7 relies on operating system functionality in XP SP2 that is non-trivial to port back to Windows 2000" . There is AdblockPro (http://www . adblockpro . com/) that says it works in IE6, but its not free . many places that make the software these days dont make it compatible for older systems - thats just the way it goes . Regarding the other question: If you want to stick with IE7 then you'll want to get IEPro which will block the ads making pf1 slow for you . The way that reads if you use IEpro it will make PF1 Slower to load (Highlighted area) As for what Browser to use / that does block ads, you can try Firefox ( . mozilla . com/en-US/firefox/system-requirements . html" target="_blank">www . mozilla . com) - the system requirements state Win 2000 - cant see any obvious reason it wont work . then try adding in Adblock Plus ( . mozilla . org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865" target="_blank">addons . mozilla . org) which also works in Win2000 Operating Systems: Windows Vista, Windows 2000, Windows XP

2009-02-23 08:42:00 | Sorry-I didn't make it clear, I when I said "IEPro which will block the ads making pf1 slow for you." I was referring to the ads making pf1 slow for him/her, not IEPro:p
