2009-02-25 23:21:00 Hey guys, i finally got Ubuntu running and working finally but whenever i go to make a partition for Ubuntu it overwrites my old partition and formats my whole drive! I know there are several other options but i'm not sure which one to pick without risking all my data going down the drain. Anyone know? LarsJohann (13010)

IIRC The windows xp dvd can also do it

2009-02-25 23:44:00 If i delete existing partitions, will it delete everything off the HD or will it leave that stuff? LarsJohann (13010)
2009-02-26 10:37:00 Before you do anything ... just to be safe ... backup anything you don't want to lose! If you delete partitions without really knowing what you are doing you will lose data. If you delete everything off the HD you are doing just that, nothing will be left. Rod J (451)
2009-02-26 20:17:00 It should leave everything untouched-but create an image of the drive with DriveImageXML or backup important stuff just in case-computers/software can't be trusted Blam (54)
