751083 2009-02-24 09:19:00 Hi, bought a computer off trade me that had been upgraded by a guy that appeared to know what he was doing. Is Packard Bell imedia with Intel Pentium 4 1800Mhz xp pro sp3 512Mb memory. Worked great for 4 months then started turning off randomly and unable to get it to turn back on and just keep trying then randomly turns on again. Thought it might be overheating so downloaded Everest and kept an eye on cpu temp but does not go above 58 to 60 degrees however days have been a lot cooler the last week so room temperature not as warm. Now I have found out if I unplug it after turning off and plug in next day it turns on perfectly but if I turn off computer and leave plug in socket it wont turn on. Can anybody help its driving me crazy? JeanetteDunedin (14648)

751087 2009-02-24 21:41:00 Also try removing one stick of RAM and try booting, or if you only have one stick, download memtest84+ and see if it picks up any errors.

If you can, try another PSU also

751089 2009-03-24 09:16:00 Put new power supply in this goddam computer and worked great for about a week then would not turn on again. I unplugged and plugged back in and fiddled some more and then I got it to turn on but screen is blue....It still works fine but its a little hard to read because its just blue, tried restarting, system restore, spyware and virus checks and still just blue. Am I looking at motherboard replacement do you think? Thanks for your help guys. JeanetteDunedin (14648)

Could possibly be your monitor so try another one if you can. You should also check that you didn't bend any pins in the plug when plugging it back in. To be frank it doesn't really sound like it, but it is worth checking just in case.

Cheers
