564932 2007-07-02 06:04:00 Ain't it cute?

Nice shot PC WORLD . . it's in Adobe Flash Version 9,0,45,0 now . . . Hmmm . . how can I block that? Disabling right click is just nasty too!

I got rid of the magazine subscription thing-y though . But that BOSE banner is a real eye-jar and makes me want to never buy BOSE again . :groan: US OR NZ!

Next cycle, I am not going to re-subscribe to the US version of PC World either . :waughh:

Ya know, left alone to buy quality things is something I do all the time . I don't need to be treated like an idiot and an untermensch . . . . these ads are just a grab for the eyeballs and make the whole thing nasty and like a sales call on my phone . . I also iggy .

564935 2007-07-02 06:27:00 Nope as well, but just for fun (cough) I had a look in IE tab...

beegeezus guys- what were you thinking???

Trying to give your captive audience a migraine?

You gotta admit though SurferJoe, it's not quite as bad as the 'new' US PCWorld... now that's an abortion in training

564937 2007-07-02 10:24:00 Nope, can't see it in FF and PCworld USA is absolutely, utterly crappy. Popup's everywhere, shoddy writing... beeswax34 (63)

Well . . . my current sub runs out next month . . and the way the new advert is trying to shove things down my throat, I won't bother to get it again .

Looks like a Readers' Digest now anyway with all the ads and commercials in it . . and that appears to be the way of printed material any more .

Nope . . just because of that new attitude from PC World, I will never sub to it again .

I used to . . been there, done it, not again .

Somehow all the typhoons at these magazines, both electronic and papered, seem to have an attack plan on the whole world as they see ad revenues drying up, so they spam me more and more .

That "drying up" also reflects badly on keeping the payments up on a dacha in Puerto Vallarta or The Ivory Coast, so they let the idea-guys push the envelope a little further every issue .

May all high-paid CEOs and CIOs learn how to dive for aluminum cans in dumpsters for their sustenance . Maybe they'll have to sell their yacht .

Of course, this is just my humble, unassuming, non-pretentious opinion . <insert angry smilie with c-4 explosives here>

On behalf of NZ, I wish to apologise for the PC World NZ attitude. In mitigation, can I say that Fairfax are Australians?
I haven't seen the offending ad, and from the descriptions, apparently I can count that as one of the good parts of my day.
I have no idea what is in the magazine, I used to buy it regularly for many years, but the direction it has taken under Fairfax is not leading anywhere I wish to go.
(I note that my usual supplier no longer stocks it anyway.)
Does PC now also stand for Painfully Crass ? ;)

564941 2007-07-03 01:33:00 My local newsagent/stationary shop used to sell PC World but now the have a sign in the window saying "this is a pornography free shop" and they no longer stock it. Go figure. JackStraw (6573)
