Very few pass the selection process and then the subsequent 9 month training program before even being considered for acceptance into the SAS. The Queen doesn't award these anymore. Not that I have any time for that old hag, but at least she is non-political. Whereas, right now, harridan Helen is after any good news she can exploit. |

I am impressed with reported remark " I was just doing my job" When I was serving at RNZAF Woodbourne back in the sixties, I had the privilege of meeting Charles Upham at lunch, before he was the guest of honour at the Cadets passing out parade. One of my colleagues asked a question about his actions that saw him awarded with the VC. His answering remark was " I was not smart enough to stop and think" This recipient seems to be blessed with the same self effacing modesty. |

Having said that, I found it strange that a five minute search on BBC news turned up no mention of the award. |
