564879 2007-07-01 22:07:00 Hey all,
Just building a website for a small business and need to put a map of where on the site. Does anyone know of any maps you can use 4 free for commercial use?
Thanks
Tyrone

Are you sure you can use those for free? I am pretty sure that in their terms of use, that they forbid duplicating and modifying.

Some people seem to have a cavalier attitude towards copyright . What they do is their business, subject to the real problem that they are liable to penalties for their own misbehaviour . It's not a helpful idea to suggest that other people should steal copyrighted matter .

Only if matter is explicitly stated (by the owner) to be in the public domain is it legitimate to make use of it without permission . Using copyright matter without the explicit, prior, permission of the owner is an offence .

I would recommend looking for CC (creative content) where people can reuse content on their own website . Google seems to allow you to use their maps on their website without a problem .
