564203 2007-06-29 04:02:00 I have noticed some cars with their wheel trims secured with cable ties. Having lost trims in the past I wonder if this is a good idea or are there reasons why you should not do this?. Pato (2463)
564204 2007-06-29 04:13:00 I thought this was done away with in the 70's with the Buicks and Cads and their 30 pound hubcaps...maybe tech stuff in the form of lightweight ABS plastic caps are a little slower to arrive there....

Anyway..If a cap gets tossed while you are driving, I'd rather have it fly clear than fling itself into the fender, wheel wells and the body like a wolverine on a leash trying to eat it's way out of a meat container..

Just my thought >>>>>>:2cents:

Well I never thought of that although I suspected it may not be a good idea. I am not sure what you are talking about when you mention ABS plastic caps?.

564206 2007-06-29 04:46:00 my parents lost a hubcap on their '89 holden camira once - they found it 2 days later tied to the near top of a power pole with ignition cable!

so yeah dad tied the hubcaps on with cable ties from then on

now that's why you use TWO cable ties, (on opposite sides of the hubcap obviously)

works a treat, but then again, so does occasionally kicking them back on and not curbing your car too often;)

Let me show you some of the ones we have here in the US:

1) www.amazon.com

2) www.jcwhitney.com

..just for two resources here.

ABS + acetyl-butyl styrene plastic...or Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene ((c8h8)k-(C3H3N)l-(C4H6)m]n)

Most rental cars have them. Any missing ties when a car is returned usually means a puncture in the boot or possibly swapped for another one!!!
