| 564013 | 2007-07-01 22:16:00 | From the numerous reports that are out about the iPhone after the weekend, I would have to say that it is the GUI experience offered by the iPhone that is what people are raving about rather than the amount of features or the quality of a particular feature. According to most Blackberry or eMate users, it is the keyboard and the generally awkward menu design that has been "adapted" from a normal computer and put onto the smaller device that is very mediocre when compared to the iPhone which was the whole point of the device in the first place. I think this article offers a good explanation of everything; Touch me, call me, I am the iPhone It has been dubbed iPerbole and it describes the fascination bordering on pathological obsession with Apple's iPhone that has gripped the United States since the device was dangled in front of the world in January. www.smh.com.au I have a feeling that there are a lot of apps and functions still to be developed for the iPhone that we haven't seen yet. In terms of a better gadget arriving soon...Apple is already working on a couple of updated models. My last 2 Sony camcorders have had touch screens. The surface is fingerprint resistant and it works pretty good.. What is new under the sun? Please understand, I am not knocking the product, just the excitement about it. Ken |

My Sony DV cam corder also has a touch screen but it is nothing like the iPhone. The menu setup on the iPhone is a widget based rather than a "windowing" based menu. I think the difference with the hype that has been generated with the iPhone is that it is generated by a lot of people curious about the device - with Apple throwing out tid bits of information along the way to keep people intrigued. I have to say that my next cell phone will be the newer model of my current bottom end Nokia. |

| 564015 | 2007-07-01 23:38:00 | Having just bought a new lower end model Nokia clamshell @ $149 from Dick Smith, it looks like we each will save a lot of money!! It is "horses for courses" really . I have a health problem which means I need to have contact with 2 or 3 people who will come and help me if I have problems when out walking the dog . That and a couple of texts a month is all I use . I am on the Telecom "Homephone" plan where calls are charged to my landline and my average call bill is $2 - $4 per month . A iphone would be the last thing on earth that I would desire . Ken  |

| 564016 | 2007-07-01 23:44:00 | Yes "horses for courses" describes it well. Some of the features pending are "fall 2007 is when the iPhone's features are set to expand in earnest, he adds. The iPhone will not only gain a disk mode for transferring computer files but should also receive a full-fledged file browser that lets users store and open documents. Its omission from the iPhone software made available in June was supposedly made primarily because the company wants a fully developed browser very similar to that found in Mac OS X Leopard, including the option of Cover Flow browsing." It would appear that a few Microsoft employees have been lining up to by iPhones for "research" purposes... "Adrian, who asked that his last name not be used, was just one Microsoft employee standing in line at an Apple store. He wouldnt point them out, but said that two other Microsofties from the Windows Mobile division were in line, planning to buy phones for competitive research.yeah right (would make for a good Tui ad) computerworld.co.nz |

I doubt it, Telecom is not known for having any style or substance.:D I think there will be a few IT depts in the US who might be "encouraged" to change their way of thinking come Monday. ;) |
