751530 2009-02-27 10:38:00 Good advice there  many people ignore the PSU - its better to spend a few $$ now on a good one, not some cheap item.

Saying the PSU will be replaced when it blows is dangerous - what say if and when it blows, it takes out the Motherboard, or any other component it is connected to ? ( mind you any PSU blowing can do that)

Regarding the CPU fitting - it should be ZIF (zero insertion force) meaning it should simply fall into place, with no pressure, the only pressure and that will be light is the clamp /heat sink with thermal paste ;) holding every thing down.

Agreed ZIF means you do not need a big hammer to insert the CPU into a socket unless you try to insert a cpu into a different socket than what it was designed for or put in with the wrong orientation.

A 350 watt PSU makes me a little worried. Pleased it is not my case.

I am running an AMD x2 with 2 optical drives and 2 SATA drives on an Enermax 425... not a hitch so far (after a year).

751532 2009-02-27 21:02:00 Yeah it has SATA with RAID and ATA, pretty standard these days . 2x PCI and even 1x PCIe . Has builtin video . We have 1x SATA HDD 80GB . No other drives installed .

There is nothing in the system, not sure if he would want to spend more money on it since it only use it weekly . Much of the time, the lounge gets used - DVD and Xbox .

At the moment there is no CD/DVD, I took it for my system . Maybe a wifi card, the tv card could be taken out . Has a floppy drive just cos we have one . The case is very roomy .

751533 2009-02-28 00:13:00 Well, if it blows, I could spend $200 for a newer / current CPU, motherboard, RAM setup ;) Based on a Micro ATX with video, budget CPU. Nomad (952)
